The Directorate General of Training (DGT) (erstwhile DGE&T, Ministry of Labour and Employment) in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurships, Government of India initiated Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS).
Depending upon the trades, the entry qualification varies as class 8th pass and class 10th pass. The duration of training varies from one year to two year.
Admission can be done through online. Online applications welcomed from the students who are willing to join the training. The applications will be uploaded through www.skilltraining.tn.gov.in.
Online application will be started to issue after releasing the every year SSLC results (i.e.) may be month of June.
Govt.I.T.I., Madurai Library is the soul of the institution and it acquires, processes, preserves and disseminates information to the user community with the motto of empowering knowledge. It has extreme collection of books, reference materials. This library always encourages all trainees and faculties to recommend new books in order to strengthen their collection. Books are being arranged on open access shelves for easy search and retrieval purposes.
Govt.I.T.I., Madurai has Soft Skill Lab. It consists of 30 computers. This lab is very much useful for the trainees.
For the benefit of students, hostel facility is available at a distance of 1 Km from this Industrial Training Institute situated near MoondruMavadi, Alagarkoil Road, Madurai. In this hostel, both accommodation and best food provided to the trainees.
Every year during the month of January ITI Sports are being conducted. The winners are eligible to take part in the Regional Level Sports Meet. Regional Level Sports Meet will be conducted during the month of March and the winners are felicitated with District Level Prizes and Certificates. The Winners will represent the Respective Region and take part in the State Level Sports Meet. It will be conducted during the month of May. The winners will be felicitated with State Level Prizes and Certificates.
